JOIN FIFTH PILLAR

Fifth Pillar Media Group is in the early stages of building a national truth network, and we are currently recruiting creators, researchers, and fact-checkers who are essential to delivering verified information to Canadians.

Participation in Fifth Pillar does not require ideological alignment or editorial conformity. Contributors maintain full independence, while working in conformance with Fifth Pillar’s documented ethical reporting standards. We will never require you to report on a story, adopt a narrative, or amplify information that does not align with your values or judgment. Independence and ethical rigor are core conditions of participation, not concessions.

At this stage, participation is voluntary. Contributors are joining to help build the foundation of a public-interest information system. As Fifth Pillar grows and infrastructure matures, we intend to recruit future employees, contractors, and paid contributors directly from this pool of creators, researchers, and fact-checkers—ensuring those who helped build the system are first in line to help lead it.

Approved Fifth Pillar Correspondents receive formal recognition as independent contributors, including a profile on our main site and authorization to use Fifth Pillar insignia in their content. Contributors also gain access to a growing suite of backend tools designed to support verification-first work.

These tools include the News Wire, a real-time lead and story signal system highlighting developing, verifiable news; Truth Net, a peer-maintained database tracking misinformation alerts, debunked claims, corrections, and contextual analysis of rage-bait and fear-based narratives; and the Evidence Vault, a shared repository of source material, documentation, and verified evidence used to validate, fact-check, or refute claims—providing transparent receipts to support credible content.

This infrastructure is under active development and will be rolled out in stages. Building these systems properly takes time. The first step is assembling a strong, diverse network of peers committed to evidence, transparency, and public trust. As backend functionality reaches testing readiness, contributors from this initial network will be invited to participate in beta testing to help refine performance, reliability, and usability.

Fifth Pillar is being built collaboratively, deliberately, and in service of the public record. We invite contributors to be part of something larger than individual reach—to help build infrastructure that allows truth to move, endure, and matter.

Fifth Pillar Media Group Land Acknowledgement

Fifth Pillar Media Group respectfully acknowledges that our work is carried out on the traditional and ancestral territories of Indigenous Peoples across Turtle Island.

In Ottawa, we acknowledge the unceded and unsurrendered territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe Nation.

In Barrie and throughout Simcoe County, we acknowledge the lands of the Anishinaabeg peoples, including the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi Nations of the Three Fires Confederacy, and recognize the enduring presence of the Huron-Wendat and other Indigenous Peoples who have lived on and cared for these lands since time immemorial.

In Toronto, we acknowledge the traditional territory of many nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and the Wendat peoples. We recognize that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 and the Williams Treaties.

We recognize that these lands were never simply places on a map. They were homes. Nations. Trade routes. Gathering places. Sacred places. Places of language, ceremony, governance, and community long before Canada existed.

We also recognize that the history of this land did not end with treaties or apologies.

The impacts of colonization, residential schools, forced displacement, systemic discrimination, the Sixties Scoop, and the separation of Indigenous children from their families and cultures are not stories confined to the past. They continue to affect Indigenous communities, families, survivors, adoptees, and future generations today.

At Fifth Pillar Media, we believe storytelling carries responsibility.

We believe truth matters.
We believe voices that were silenced deserve to be heard.
And we believe reconciliation cannot exist without honest conversations about the realities Indigenous Peoples continue to face across this country.

As creators, producers, and storytellers, we are committed to approaching Indigenous stories with humility, respect, accountability, and the understanding that these stories belong to the people who lived them.

We honour the children who never came home.
We honour the families still searching for answers.
And we honour the resilience of Indigenous Peoples whose cultures, languages, identities, and communities continue to survive and grow despite generations of attempted erasure.

This acknowledgement is not the end of a conversation.

It is where listening begins.
